Grass Roots Boot-Camp
Do you want to learn first hand how to get people elected? Do you want to have some fun doing it? Do you want to make a difference? Then join us in northern Virginia on November 3 & 4!
The advocates offshoot for the Virginia League for Planned Parenthood is organizing a grass roots boot-camp for Janet Oleszek. This boot-camp will be a first hand look at the ground level for anyone who wants to see real grass roots organization in progress. Janet is running for Sen. Ken Cuccinelli's sentate seat. Senator Cuccinelli is well know for having introduced anti-abortion and anti-birth control legislation and was one of the 21 votes needed to pass the bill containing the abusive driver fees. This first time senator won his seat by a mere 2,104 votes and is a perfect target for removal with some grass roots effort.
The goal is to swing the balance over to Janet Oleszek's side by doing the very things Libertarians need to learn: effective grassroots organization. Showing Planned Parenthood that Virginia has an active Libertarian movement ready to help when our goals align will give both Planned Parenthood and the future senator something to think about!
Planned Parenthood will be providing all training, hotel rooms and food along with a red Planned Parenthood Action Fund t-shirts. Any Libertarian who joins in this effort will also receive a Libertarian button to wear on their shirt to let everyone know who we are.
This is a golden opportunity to learn grass roots organization and make a difference that will be noticed by many. [Editor's Note: We strongly support Sen. Cuccinelli for a number of reasons. He's one of the very few people in the VA Senate, who supports cutting taxes and reducing spending. Also he is one of the very very very few people in the VA Senate who supports your right to keep and bear arms. While he is very wrong on Planned Parenthood's issue, we believe he is good on a number of other issues which more than outweigh his position.
